The Death Knell of Transit

Well here’s this week’s comic despite some people’s requests to take it easy on these characters. What can I say? I derive perverse pleasure from inflicting pain on fictional characters in hypothetical situations… is that so wrong?

BTW while this whole transportation nightmare is based on real experiences I’ve had (esp. during those periods when I didn’t own a car) this and last weeks’ comics actually happened to me and my girlfriend a few months back. In general though this stuff is made up and embellished for dramatic effect.

Because the main character looks like me many of my friends have taken to thinking he is me but I have to stress that he’s only inspired by me. I have to come up with some name for him that will serve to distance the character from me in people’s minds – otherwise everyone will think I’m as jerky as I make this guy from time to time (which, needless to say, is preposterous!). I don’t want potential comic content to be limited by my fear that everyone will think I’m drawing my memoirs.

Didn’t think it could get worse..but it has!!
The humour outweighs the cringe factor.
Does this story have a happy ending?

  3. Pender says:

    I don’t think he’s you, I’ve met you, you’re 50% more 3d than this character.

I get joy from reading these and every time thinking, “Wow, that is so Steve!”. Reminds me of the stories you’ve told that are almost too painful to be true. Gives me a smile every time – thanks!

So you can name him what you want, but it’s not just the appearance that rings true :)
